Browns kicker Andre Szmyt wore a banana costume as he joined pediatric cancer patients for Browns Give Back's fifth annual Halloween Fashion Show. The patients participating through University Hospitals and The Littlest Heroes walked alongside members of the team as part of the Halloween fashion show.
Cleveland 19's Ashley Holder and Zach Keenan reported that Quincy Williams wore a purple Joker suit, while Rex Sunahara turned up in giraffe pajamas.
K.C. Concepcion, Grant Delpit, Spencer Fano and Quinshon Judkins also joined Williams among the participating Browns players. A fifth annual edition gives Browns Give Back a Halloween tradition of its own, something bigger than any one player's costume choice.
Williams described the purpose as creating positive moments and happy memories for the children.
The show had been included in the team's advance plans for October Crucial Catch programming recognizing people affected by cancer. Those plans called for families to attend and watch the children show off their Halloween costumes. The team had planned to host the fashion show at Huntington Bank Field. Its announcement named UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital as a planned participant in the fashion show.
Sharing the spotlight with the children is the strongest part of this Browns event; the players' willingness to join in gives it warmth. Szmyt and Sunahara's outfits have their charm because the adults are willing to look a little ridiculous.
Szmyt's own description made clear that he enjoyed the experience alongside them: "It brightens up my day just as much as it does for these kids."
