Yaya Diaby went from six sackless games to three sacks against Carolina, and the Browns are among ESPN's proposed trade fits for the Tampa Bay edge rusher.
The analysis ranks Diaby fourth among potential trade candidates. It also assigns Diaby a 35% chance of being traded before the deadline. Cleveland is a suggested destination, not a reported negotiation.
Jeremy Fowler reports that Tampa Bay is not positioned to pay Diaby, a prospective 2027 free agent, and points to David Walker's emergence as a potential replacement.
The edge rusher, listed at 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds, put that power on display in Tampa Bay's 43-13 win over Carolina. Diaby drove Rasheed Walker backward with a bull rush to reach Bryce Young, then beat Walker with another bull rush for his second sack.
His third sack involved an inside twist by Calijah Kancey, with Diaby dislodging his blocker to move Young off his spot. "He finished them yesterday," Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles said after the breakout.
Matt Bowen calls him a "powerful and physical edge rusher" who can set the edge against the run. The analysis credits Diaby with at least 40 pressures in each of the preceding two seasons. Diaby's run defense makes this a credible Browns fit: a hypothetical addition could hold the perimeter while bringing the power he used to overwhelm Walker.
Outside linebackers coach Larry Foote was blunt about Diaby's run defense: "Tight ends cannot block him one-on-one, and he makes a lot of plays in the run game."
